Frazier's Flowers on South Zetterower in Statesboro will host a holiday Open House on Tuesday, November 14th, from 9am-5pm and a VIP Unwind and Design event afterwards from 6pm "until."
Shannon Lowe, owner of Frazier's, creates a new theme every holiday season for Frazier’s. It is truly a labor of love from Shannon, says Frazier's employee Melanie Rodriguez. This holiday season, the floral shop is preparing to once again spread cheer and give back to the Statesboro community.
The Open House will host Santa from 3 to 5pm. There will be face painting, refreshments, and giveaways, as well as a one day only sale. The VIP Unwind and Design will share coveted tips and tricks of the trade, along with refreshments, for a $75 donation to the Altrusa Club of Statesboro.
Keeping it Local
Frazier’s Flowers originally opened in the early 90s under the ownership of florist Marjorie Frazier. Lowe took over ownership in 2012, and with a different philosophy and creative eye, Shannon feels like Frazier’s has evolved to be truly his own.
According to Melanie, “Shannon has put his thumbprint on it now, and people know when they have Frazier’s work, it will have his stamp of approval on it.”
“Shannon has a huge heart,” she says, and strives to meet the various needs from the community including funerals, weddings, holidays, and local events. As florists, they never know what the day might bring, but they aim to cover it all beautifully and with great customer service from a locally-owned small business.
Hopefully, you have had the opportunity to stop by for a free rose at Frazier’s after seeing your name on their sign. According to Shannon, the idea came from Majorie Frazier. She was on a road trip to see her sister in Massachusetts and passed by a flower shop with a name on their sign. She fell in love with that idea and brought it back to Statesboro. The rest is history!
The Misfit Family
Shannon endearingly calls his Frazier Family “a bunch of Misfits.” Over the years, he says the Frazier Family has had a wonderful group of employees from all walks of life, including veterans to retired educators, folks from the recovery community and beyond.
Melanie is a retired dance teacher of 25 years, with experience in production work and events. She fell in love with the business and was impressed with Shannon's creations. Melanie says she and Shannon work very well together. While Shannon can focus on the creative aspects, Melanie is better suited to the big picture and technical side of things. Their opposing forces work together to create a great balance.
Giving Back
Shannon says he has worked closely with the Altrusa Club for many years. The club makes all Frazier's Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day deliveries.
Lowe said the amount of deliveries made on these occasions would not be possible without the club. Melanie added, “They go over and beyond to help with deliveries. Their hearts are in it and are so supportive, this is our a way to do something for them.”
Checks for VIP Unwind and Design will be made directly to the Altrusa Club.
This holiday effort is just one example of the way the Frazier's Family works together to meet all the needs of the community. Lowe says, "As a local business, we feel it’s important to give back to the community. Every dollar that comes in the door is one I can give back.”
