Firecracker Fest 2024 skips lightning, gets fireworks

The annual Statesboro Firecracker Fest could not be stopped by the weather. Despite there being signs of lightning coming through and spoiling our plans of a good Saturday afternoon, Mill Creek Regional Park was able to reopen and the show went on.

The 2024 Firecracker Fest is now in the books, regardless of how the weather wanted to act. The outside temperatures went from the 90s to the high 70s in the matter of an hour, and the bright sunset and the cool breeze set the mood for the rest of the evening.

The night was made possible by The Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Department and Cardinal LG, and fireworks by Briggs and Stratton. This year’s Firecracker Fest is sponsored by:

After the lights went off, the fireworks show lasted almost 20 minutes and was sure to keep the sky lit.

The music lineup this year included Color the Night Band. These all-pro players performed a huge variety of party music from the past five decades: from classic rock to funk, R&B to 80’s. Chris and Ashlee Mitchell started the evening off, and Ashlee delivered the National Anthem to end the night.
