Fire damages Statesboro home Friday afternoon

A home in the City of Statesboro was heavily damaged by fire on Friday, December 29, 2023.

Bulloch County 911 operators dispatched the Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments to a house fire at 4:55 PM on Bay Street in the city.

The first firefighters arrived on the scene in minutes and reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the windows of the home.  They requested additional engines and firefighters to the scene.

Statesboro firefighters made a rapid and aggressive interior attack and had the fire blacked out quickly.   Due to the heavy involvement of the fire the single story structure received significant fire, heat, smoke and water damage.

Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours making sure all of the hot spots were extinguished.

Bulloch County CAFE and the American Red Cross DAT team responded to provide temporary assistance the two adult occupants of the home.

Bulloch County EMS responded as a precaution, but there were no injuries in the fire.

Statesboro Police Department officers responded and assisted with crowd control.

Statesboro Fire Investigators will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation of the fire.
