All Statesboro citizens are invited to a series of public hearings on a proposed increase in the millage rate, which will require a property tax increase, for the City of Statesboro. The city has tentatively adopted a millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 24.56 percent.

The first two hearings will be held at City Hall Council Chambers, 50 East Main Street, on September 10, 2024, at 12:00pm and 6:00pm. A third public hearing will be held on September 17, 2024, at 5:30pm in the same location. The rate will be set at that meeting.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 9.125 mills, an increase of 1.799 mills from the 2023 rate.

According to the City of Statesboro, without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 7.326 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $140.32, and the proposed tax increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $143.92.
