Bulloch County Sheriff's office investigating I-16 homicide

Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that took place on October 14, 2024, near Interstate 16. A man was found with multiple injuries, and the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Robert Brandon Lewis Keller, is now in custody following a brief pursuit.

Monday evening Grice Connect provided an initial report of an incident on I-16 that caused the interstate to be closed and a high level of law enforcement presence.

The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office released an update Tuesday morning.

Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a homicide that occurred during the early evening of October 14, 2024, near Interstate 16. The Bulloch County 911 center received multiple calls reporting a person lying on the side of the interstate near Mile Marker 113, on the eastbound side. 

Multiple agencies, including deputies from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Bulloch and Candler County EMS, and Bulloch County Fire, responded to the scene.

The victim was eventually located on the westbound side of I-16. Despite efforts by first responders to render medical aid, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed the victim had sustained multiple injuries to the torso, head, arms, and neck. The body has been transported to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy, and the victim's identity is being withheld until family members are notified.

As part of their investigation, deputies tracked the suspect to the Patriot Inn, located off Highway 301 South near I-16 in Bulloch County. Following a brief foot pursuit, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Robert Brandon Lewis Keller. His last known address is currently unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing, and criminal charges against Keller are pending.
