The future of Bulloch County is in the hands of its community members. Georgia Southern University’s Institute for Vibrant and Engaged Communities (IVEC) is inviting residents to take part in a series of Community Conversations titled "Building a Vibrant Bulloch: Uniting for Our Community's Future."

IVEC is dedicated to strengthening community resilience by facilitating collaboration between local governments and nonprofit organizations. Their work addresses pressing issues such as affordable housing, childcare, and innovative responses to economic development, with a special emphasis on rural areas. Their mission is to foster vibrant, resilient, and sustainable communities where all people can live, work, learn, and thrive.

Dr. Candice Bodkin, Co-Director of IVEC, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "The Institute for Vibrant and Engaged Communities is excited for the opportunity to bring together community members to discuss and shape the future of our local area. We are glad to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration, and we look forward to the valuable insights and ideas that will emerge from this event."

  • Brooklet – Thursday, September 19, 6:00-7:30 PM, at the Randy Newman Community Center
  • Statesboro – Saturday, September 28, 1:00-2:30 PM, at the Russell Union Ballroom, Georgia Southern University Campus
  • Portal – Thursday, October 3, 6:00-7:30 PM, at Portal Middle High School Cafeteria

Each of these events will cover the same topics, allowing participants to choose the most convenient location for them. These discussions are a vital step toward strengthening the community and shaping its future, with IVEC committed to facilitating inclusive and respectful dialogue.

The input gathered will play a crucial role in developing actionable strategies for the county's long-term success, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Residents are encouraged to take part in this unique opportunity to make a difference in Bulloch County’s future.
