Brooklet City Council led a public hearing and discussion of the proposed $1.5 million FY25 budget at 8am, Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Mayor Nicky Gwinnett called the meeting to order, and Council member Bradley Anderson gave a brief presentation about the tentative budget. No members of the public were in attendance.
Key points of the hearing:
Council member Anderson cites a 4% total increase to this year's budget as compared to last year, for total revenues and expenditures of $1.54 million for FY25.
“The tax revenues have remained rather constant because we have chosen a rollback rate for the last five years,” said Anderson.
He attributes growth in the budget to an 11% increase in the enterprise fund revenues which encapsulate the water and sanitation funds.
Department allocation percentages remain similar to last year's budget with less than 1% increase or decrease from last year.

Brooklet City Council will hold a called meeting on June 6, 2024, beginning at 4 pm, to host legal firm interviews in order to fill the position of City Attorney.

Before the next regular session council meeting, Sheila Wentz who was elected to serve on Brooklet City Council member Post #5, will be sworn in and participate in that day's meeting.
The council had no more to discuss but waited to make sure no members of the public were going to show up, before the meeting was adjourned by Mayor Gwinnett after 8:15am.
