Statesboro's newest entertainment game venue has opened its doors, and is inviting you to take a stab at winning one of their giveaway prizes during their grand opening this week.
Boro the Hatchet Axe Throwing is now open for business as of 5 pm Wednesday evening, with six target lanes, pool tables, darts and an arcade to entertain the whole family. Each throwing lane is equipped with an interactive digital target, and players can choose from different 'bullseye' board or games like tic-tac-toe or connect four.
To celebrate the launch, they awarded Wednesday’s top five axe throwers with gift cards, hats, shirts and mugs from Cool Beanz Espresso bar and Boro Bagel Company.
Visit Boro the Hatchet any time for the rest of the week to secure your place in the top five and have the chance to win other prizes from Boro Sno, Tandoor and Tap and Azul Tex Mex.
Owner BJ McKellar says the best way to make sure you can take part in the fun is to book a lane HERE on their website, but he says walk-ins are also welcome when lanes are available.
Players can look forward to a variety of snacks and beverages including Knotty pretzels, popcorn, Coke products and craft sodas. McKellar says the interior of Boro the Hatchet was inspired by the themes he saw in other similar businesses, with the cozy, cabin-like decor.
All players must wear closed toe shoes and fill out a waiver. The minimum age to participate in the axe throwing games is 10 years old (with a parent).
For first timers, an employee will explain the rules of the throwing lanes and teach players how to aim the axe and use the digital target and score board.
Try your hand at axe Throwing with Boro the Hatchet during their weekday hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5 pm until 10 pm, Saturdays from 4 pm until 11 pm and Sundays from 1 pm until 6 pm.
