Tim and Debbie Wilkinson are planning something big at Splash in the Boro on May 18th. Their company, Zero Gravity Outreach, is hosting a free event entitled "Atmosphere X RaveVival" from 7:30pm until 10:00pm.
Wilkinson explains the concept of Zero Gravity Outreach as an amalgamation of different things: "If you take a Billy Graham crusade, the X Games, The Fast and the Furious, and a rock concert and squish them all together. "
The Wilkinsons use a combination of various genres of music, including hip-hop, EDM, and rock, to provide an upbeat and rave-like atmosphere, without all the negative things raves are associated with, all the while spreading the Gospel.
"Our hearts are to share and for people to see and seek the truth," Wilkinson says.
"Atmosphere X the name comes from we want to change the atmosphere wherever we go," Wilkinson explains. "X is actually the Greek symbol for Christ and, for us, it symbolizes the intersection of our lives and Jesus' life."
The couple moved here over a decade ago and are extremely active in the community of Statesboro they have grown to love. They volunteer at Christian Social Ministries, Fostering Bulloch, and Fixing the Boro when they are not developing content for and promoting Zero Gravity Outreach.
Atmosphere X will boast four different DJs playing classic remixed rock, EDM, hip hop, and contemporary rock. The wave pool will be filled with glow sticks and have lighted beach balls, and people can enjoy the concession stands. Although admission to the event is free, the concession stands require payment; they are not complimentary. Merchandise will also be available for purchase.
"We really encourage the whole family to come because it's a faith-based event," Wilkinson says.
