The City of Statesboro's Municipal General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, to fill City Council Seats 2, 3, and 5.
Candidates who wish to qualify for an office must file their notice of candidacy with the Election Superintendent for Qualifying at Statesboro City Hall starting Monday, August 21st at 8:30 a.m. through Friday, August 25th at 4:30 p.m.
The qualifying fee for the office of:
- City Council Seat 2: $227.00
- City Council Seat 3: $227.00
- City Council Seat 5: $227.00
The current council members in these seats are Paulette Chavers (2), Venus Mack (3), and Shari Barr (5). These incumbents have confirmed to Grice Connect that they all intend to seek re-election.
Following Phil Boyum's resignation on Tuesday, Seat 1 will also require an election. However, qualifying for District 1's seat will not take place next week during qualifying for Districts 2, 3, and 5. More details on the District 1 qualification and a special election date will be released at a later time.
