Thursday morning at Bulloch County Fire Station Seven in Brooklet Bulloch County leaders came together to dedicate six new fire firetrucks.
The new trucks include three new engines, which cost around $525,000 each equipped, and three new tankers. The engines are completely outfitted and can carry four firefighters. Each one also has the jaws of life rescue equipment on them.
"These engines and tankers represent a multi year strategy that our commissioners have supported and part of the process to get the best service for our citizens as far as fire services is concerned. This goes a long way in enhancing our fire protection strategy," said Ted Wynn.
"We owe a lot of credit to the taxpayers and our commissioners. Three years ago we put together a grass roots strategic plan on how to improve fire services over the next few years. Hired a prominent national fire experts in emergency services to do a operational study of our fire and EMS services," said Tom Couch. "We don't have a lot of public water systems. 91% of area serviced there are no fire hydrants. Over the next 7 years you will see up continue to work this plan and improve our fire services which will include rotating out at retiring more of our equipment. We are dedicated to make our county fire department a top notch professional fire organization."

They new trucks include:
Engine 72 and tanker 75 will be in Brooklet at station 7
Engine 22 will be in Portal at station 2
Engine 32 and tanker 35 will be in Register at station 3
Tanker 95 will be in Clito at station 9
With these additions Bulloch County Fire now has 19 total engines placed in 14 stations throughout the county. There are 12 full-time firefighters, 8 part-time firefighters who man the Brooklet and Portal station 24/7. In addition, they have 57 volunteers with a goal of expanding to 80 total volunteer firefighters.
