Statesboro Fire Department responded around 1:10 AM Tuesday , May 25 to a house fire on Oak Street in the city. Bulloch County Fire and Bulloch EMS responded to assist with the fire.
Statesboro Police also responded and detoured traffic for several hours, while firefighters were on the scene.
According to Bobby Duggar, Deputy Chief, Statesboro Fire, the first arriving units reported fire in the rear of the Oak street home and began an initial attack of the fire. The fire began in the kitchen area and thanks to the rapid response and aggressive attack of the fire it was confined to that room of the house.
However, the entire house experienced heat and smoke damage. Georgia Power also responded and cut the power to the house.
Larry Jones, with the Bulloch County American Red Cross Disaster Action Team provided emergency assistance to the family.
