Georgia Southern University President, Dr. Kyle Marrero, has been named as one of Georgia's most influential Georgians' by Georgia Trend Magazine. This is the 24th year, the magazine has published the "most influential Georgians" list.
Dr. Marrero is the only person from Statesboro to make the list and one of only eight University Presidents to make the list out of 52 four-year colleges and universities, as well as the 23 technical colleges.
Georgia Trend noted Georgia Southern's fall enrollment in 2021 totaled about 27,000 students across its Statesboro campus and two satellite campuses, and Marrero is projecting more than 29,000 students by 2026, driven by a strategic enrollment plan he helped develop and an anticipated 20% increase in graduate students. Dr. Kyle Marrero has been GS's president since 2019, coming from the same role at the University of West Georgia.
The list includes political, business, education and philanthropic leaders that have made an impact on Georgia over the past year.

Griff Lynch, Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director was named the 2022 Georgian of the Year. Mr. Lynch oversees on of the busiest ports in the nation which includes Savannah and Brunswick.
