On Saturday, November 13 at 3:22 p.m., Bulloch 911 dispatched emergency services to a three-vehicle crash that included an overturned ambulance at Fair Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
The ambulance, owned by Signature Ambulance, a Statesboro based private ambulance service, appears to have been struck by a pickup truck at the intersection.
The force of the impact rolled the ambulance on its side, landing on another pickup truck at the intersection.
The ambulance was on the way to East Georgia Regional Medical Center to pick up a patient. There were three crew members in the ambulance, but NO PATIENT.
Statesboro Fire Department responded with their rescue units and several engines to provide additional personnel from Station Two.
The ambulance had to be stabilized before they could begin extricating the occupants. In addition, two people in one of the pickup trucks had to be extricated.
Traffic was diverted while the extrication was completed.
Bulloch EMS transported five people total to EGRMC, none of who appeared to have life-threatening injuries at the scene.
Statesboro Police Department is in charge of the accident investigation.
