The Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County is on a mission.
This mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring and productive citizens. Every program that the Boys & Girls Club provides to youth in Bulloch County serves to bolster the belief that helping kids locally, improves the community at large. The Boys & Girls Club’s dedicated Board of Directors is the driving force behind that mission.
“This past year, the BGC Board of Directors worked tirelessly to tackle the challenges of COVID-19.” Said Board President, Justin Samples. “ We had board members in masks at meetings. We had board members calling and Zooming in. That may not seem like much as I’m saying it now, but to me, it means our board members were willing to make the extra effort to stay engaged and further our mission.”
Boys & Girls Club of America recognized the Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County's Board of Directors' significant efforts during the past year by awarding the League of EAGLES GOLD status. The Board of Directors scored above a 95% in several performance measurements. Only 15% or less of the 1100-member organizations throughout Boys & Girls Clubs of America received this honor in 2019.
“This award is a testament to the working organization of our Club structure,” said BGC Executive Director Mike Jones. “The simple fact that we were able to achieve this honor while working hard to keep our staff and members safe during the pandemic is a compliment to our Board of Directors and their service to our community.”
The League of EAGLES is a recognition program within the BGCA organization that evaluates Board engagement. This prestigious leadership award is given to Boards who show strength in areas such as strategic plan implementation, member engagement, and service on internal committees.
