After spending the past three years as a professional golf caddie on the Korn Ferry Tour, Daniel Castles is joining Georgia Southern's golf coaching team as the men's assistant coach. Castles caddied in more than 45 Korn Ferry events as well as a PGA Championship.
Georgia Southern Men's Golf Coach Carter Collins announced Castles's addition to the staff on August 9.
"I am extremely excited to add Daniel to our program, and I am humbled that he, his wife, Natalie, and son, Lyles, are joining us in Statesboro," Collins said.
Castles also has three seasons of collegiate coaching experience. He served as an assistant coach to Coach Craig Watson at Palm Beach Atlantic (2018-20) and as a volunteer assistant coach for Coach Danny Neal at Anderson University (2012-13). He played college golf at Tri-County Tech.
He has previously assisted in recruiting, conducting practices, fundraising, and managing players at events.
"His experience, passion, and work ethic will all be extremely helpful in pushing our program forward. I cannot wait to see the positive impact he will have on the Georgia Southern men's golf program. Hail Southern," Collins added.
Golfer Scott Langley, who won the NCAA individual title at Illinois in 2010 and went on to play in 142 PGA Tour events, also praised Castles.
"I was fortunate to have Daniel caddie for me during the final two years of my professional career on the Korn Ferry Tour, and he is fantastic in all respects," he said.
"Daniel is a hard worker, an optimist, and really knows the game of golf well," Langley added.
Georgia Southern returned all 10 lettermen to its golf roster for 2022-2023 and added Hayden Carner, Parker Claxton, and Luke Koenig.
The 2021-22 Eagles won three tournaments, including stroke play at the Sun Belt Championship, and finished fifth at the New Haven Regional to earn a trip to the NCAA Championship Finals.
