David Rogers, CEO of Georgia Technologies, was recently named Ogeechee Technical College’s (OTC) 2023 Distinguished Alumni winner.
“I still attribute the great foundation that OTC provided me with which gave me a great jump start to my technology career,” said Rogers. “I’m grateful for my staff, some of which are also OTC graduates, as they are a critical piece to our success. Lastly, I’m very thankful for OTC and the opportunity that it has provided for me.”
Rogers is a 2002 graduate of the Computer Information Systems (CIS) program at OTC.
“His company, Georgia Technologies, has flourished over the last two decades, even through tough times. They have become well renowned throughout the area as one of the finest IT service support organizations. The impact David and his organization has had on the community has been remarkable,” wrote Roger’s nominator.
Rogers began his career at Georgia Technologies as a part-time technician. After graduation, he began working full time for the company, and in 2007 he was named the Chief Operating Officer.
In 2014, he was given equal ownership in the company in recognition of his outstanding work in changing their business model to a managed IT services company.
In 2019, he purchased the company from the other shareholders and became sole owner of Georgia Technologies.
Rogers also sits as a member of the Statesboro Blue Mile Technology Advisory Committee, the OTC Cybersecurity Advisory Committee, and is also a volunteer coach for various recreational and competitive sports teams in the area.
Each year the Distinguished Alumni award is presented to an OTC alum who graduated at least 10 years prior, is making outstanding contributions and excelling in their chosen fields, who is giving back to their community, and is dedicated to the advancement of the college.
