Hours of Work: Normal working hours are thirty-five (35) hours per week, usually Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with one (1) hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as there will be the requirement for evening and weekend shifts, scheduled stand-by rotation, and carrying a cell phone to respond to urgent matters. You may also be required to attend functions outside of normal working hours and/or work overtime as needed.

As a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer II, you are responsible for the enforcement and administration of the parking enforcement program including the parking by fire route, idling, private property parking and other regulatory by-laws impacting the business improvement area such as licensing, permits, signage, heritage, animal control. The position also responds to enquiries and complaints and provides superior customer service. The main duties and responsibilities of the position are in the areas of parking enforcement, by-law enforcement, and animal control enforcement.

The preferred candidate possesses the following:

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
1. Diploma in Law and Security, Police Foundations, Justice Studies or related discipline.
2. Possess or willing to obtain certification as a MLEO and Property Standards Officer.
3. One (1) year of demonstrated experience preferably in a municipal environment, animal control experience preferred. Physical ability to perform enforcement activities and wear required personal protective equipment.
4. Thorough working knowledge of applicable provincial legislation, municipal by-laws, and enforcement procedures.
5. Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, analytical, problem-solving, report writing, inspection, and public relations skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the public and fellow staff members.
6. Ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, exercise discretion and good judgment particularly when handling highly confidential/sensitive information. Possess a high level of initiative and personal integrity.
7. Aptitude for and experience in basic mechanical maintenance and repair an asset.
8. Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, database management, and office equipment. Knowledge of CityView software an asset.
9. Valid Class ‘G’ Driver's Licence and a Driver’s Abstract satisfactory to the Employer. Ability and willingness to travel within the community and out of town as required.
10. Possess Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with results satisfactory to the Employer and a valid standard first aid and CPR/AED Level C certificate (or willing to obtain).
