Magnolia Coastlands Area Health Education Center (MCAHEC), a nonprofit center that supports the recruitment, education, training and retention of a diverse health professions workforce throughout southeast Georgia, is seeking to hire a full-time Health Careers Coordinator.
Key responsibilities include: Recruiting and working with grade, middle and high school counselors, teachers and administration, college faculty and health education personnel to develop and implement strategies for encouraging students from the southeast region of Georgia to enter health careers. The focus is on the needs of minority and rural students. Additional responsibilities include: planning and coordinating health career fairs and presentations each year for students and adults; organizing agencies to participate in health fairs; establishing linkages with existing local, state and federal agencies that have programs in health education and health careers; providing career and academic counseling; developing presentations/videos, audiovisual aids and social media for attracting students into health related careers.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred. Must have demonstrated experience in the field in one of the following: Education, Health Education, Public Health, Community Health or Vocational Education. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in addition to project management skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, oral and presentation skills along with a strong work ethic and initiative. Fluent computer skills in Microsoft Office, graphics and social media, and willing to learn data management systems. Must demonstrate good judgement and problem solving skills and be able to organize and assume responsibility with little supervision. Ability to deal with change and handle multiple projects and details. Must have current GA Driver's license, vehicle and ability to drive distances within the region. Must be able to work occasional evening/weekend hours for special events.
Office location is on the Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro Campus. Reports to Executive Director. Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
