Portal community rallies around young Sydney in her battle against leukemia

Sydney

When devastating news strikes, a small town’s heart shines the brightest. That’s exactly what’s happening in our community as we come together to support four-year-old Sydney, who was diagnosed with leukemia this year.

Upon hearing the heartbreaking news, local businesses and residents quickly stepped up to show their love and support. Living Blessed Creations, in partnership with Dirt Road Graphics, launched a fundraiser selling "Sydney Strong" shirts, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Sydney’s family.

The overwhelming response from the community has been nothing short of inspiring.

Now, the town is coming together for a special event to honor Sydney and her courageous fight. "A Day for Sydney" will take place on March 28th at 5:30 PM at Portal Elementary School. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Sydney Strong shirts or the color orange to show solidarity and support. Say Squeeze Lemonade will also be on-hand and donating proceeds from lemonade sales to Sydney's family.

The goal is to fill the parking lot with love while ensuring Sydney’s safety—so attendees are asked to maintain a respectful distance.

“This wouldn’t be possible without our incredible community,” said a representative from Living Blessed Creations. “We’re beyond grateful for everyone who has come together to lift up Sydney and her family during this difficult time.”

Sydney’s journey is a reminder of the strength found in unity, love, and generosity. Let’s continue to stand by her side and show her that she is never alone in this fight.
