A new signalized intersection just north of Interstate 16 is set to go live next week.

On Dec. 21, the Georgia Department of Transportation will activate the new signalized intersection on SR 67 at Brooklet-Denmark Road and Nevils-Denmark Road.

The intersection sits about two miles north of Interstate 16 interchange (Exit 127).

The improvements are in conjunction with the SR 67 widening project.

This signalized intersection will provide pedestrian crosswalks and flashing yellow arrows in the left turn lanes to enhance safety and optimize operational efficiency.

The new signal is not expected to be in service for the Wednesday morning commute. However, the signal should be fully functional by mid-day, weather permitting.

Local law enforcement will handle traffic control during the activation. Message boards are in place this week near the intersection to alert motorists of this new traffic signal location and activation date.

Motorist advisory

The exact time of installation may change due to weather conditions. Motorists are advised to:

  • Expect delays
  • Exercise caution
  • Reduce their speed while traveling through work zones
  • Stay alert
