East Georgia Regional Medical Center (EGRMC) received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This national distinction celebrates EGRMC’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and errors.
“This distinction reinforces our commitment to providing safe, quality, compassionate care,” said EGRMC CEO Stephen Pennington.
“Our entire team consistently seeks ways to improve in service to our patients and the ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group comes from that focus.”
The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization of 10 years. The organization assigns letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States. This is based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients.
The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures. These measures are updated each fall and spring.

The Leapfrog Group was founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers. It is a national nonprofit organization that is driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on various measures. This includes record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.
