Overnight fire in Statesboro apartment complex impacts ten people

Statesboro and Bulloch County Fire departments responded to an apartment fire in the Little Lott's Creek apartment complex at 1:06 AM on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

Firefighters make a quick attack on the fire

The complex is located at 14 East Jones street in Statesboro, Georgia. Statesboro Police officers were the first emergency responders to arrive at the scene. They reported heavy smoke coming from one of the apartments.

SPD officers began making sure all the residents of the building were out of their apartments. SPD praised a good samaritan who had already began knocking on doors alerting the residents of the fire when they arrived.

The fire began in a apartment in an eight apartment section of the complex. The first firefighters on the scene made an aggressive attack on the fire and was able to contain the fire to one end of the section of apartments. They requested additional firefighters to the scene to assist with the fire.

Statesboro Fire Department responded with four engines and Bulloch Fire Department responded with one engine. Bulloch County EMS responded to the scene as a precaution but there was no reported injuries. Statesboro Police Officers responded to assist as well.

It appears one unit was heavily damaged and at least three more appear to have heat and smoke damage.

The cause is not know at this time of the fire. Statesboro Fire Department will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation.

Red Cross requested to assist

Bulloch County Red Cross Disaster Action Team was requested to the scene to assist with 10 people impacted by the fire which included six adults and four children. Little Lotts creek management was also on the scene assisting residents.

In March of 2021 a major fire in the complex impacted twelve apartments and displaced 63 residents. Renovations are continuing on this section of the complex.
