Two future healthcare leaders are receiving a boost from the East Georgia Regional Medical Center (EGRMC).

Mackenzie Glisson and Walt Jeffers are this year’s EGRMC scholarship recipients.

“The scholarships program is a way of investing in the future of healthcare and of providing an additional benefit for our employees,” said EGRMC’s chief nursing officer, Marie Burdett.

Glisson is currently attending the Accelerated Nursing Program at Augusta University. Jeffers is currently an ICU technician at EGRMC and is studying Nursing Assistance at Georgia Southern University.

“We are pleased to offer the scholarships to a deserving group of individuals,” said Burdett.

The EGRMC scholarship provides students with up to $5,000 per year. In return, after graduation, the scholarship recipient is required to work one year for every $5,000 granted at the center on a full-time basis.

Additionally, while undertaking their studies scholarship recipients are required to maintain a C-average or above in each course.
