The Peach, a boutique located in the Market District, will open a second pop-up location in the Statesboro Mall this weekend.
The new location is thanks to the American Dream Project, an annual pop-up contest hosted by Hull Property Group, the retail real estate company that owns the Statesboro Mall, to encourage small business success across America. The goal of the project is to connect entrepreneurs with brick-and-mortar spaces.
Hull Properties selects the winners each year and offers them a rent-free space for a low-risk chance to try the brick and mortar location. Winners are awarded the retail space for 12 weeks during the holiday season and a cash prize to be used for the design and build-out of their dream space.
The Peach will occupy Suite 23A, the space next to Claire's on the former JCPenney side of the mall. It will open this weekend and remain open throughout December. The Peach hopes to make it a permanent move, though.
"We are so excited to open our second location in the Statesboro Mall," Jorjanne Drury, manager of The Peach, said. "We were so blessed to have won the location through American Dream Project."
Owned by Heather Smith McCall, the Peach began as an Etsy shop then opened as a storefront in Claxton in 2018. They decided to move the retail location to Statesboro in early 2021. It has expanded from just an Etsy shop to a full-size boutique offering women's and children's clothing and accessories, as well as embroidery, vinyl services, and laser engraving. They plan to begin offering permanent jewelry this year, too.
The mall location grand opening will take place Saturday, October 1, from 10am to 6pm. The first 10 customers in line will receive a swag bag, and the shop will offer permanent jewelry all day. Hair tinsel will be available from 3-6pm, and giveaways and discounts will be offered throughout the day.
