The Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce held an "official" groundbreaking on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, for the new Optim Orthopedics 22,283-square-foot facility in Statesboro. Even though construction began in June, the chamber gathered Optim staff, doctors, leadership and the community to celebrate this momentous expansion.

Watch the entire ceremony below:

Allen Davis, Chairman of the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber opened the ceremony with congratulatory comments on behalf the the Chamber and the community. Davis highlighted Optim's commitment to the community, not only in providing world class orthopedic care, but also in being a good corporate citizen whose doctors and staff are deeply involved in Bulloch County. He then introduced Dr. Don Aaron, MD, a beloved Statesboro doctor and key member of the Optim team.

"Thank you for coming out and supporting us in this endeavor. It is interesting how this all began as Southeastern Orthopedics Center in 1993 in a small renovated house on Savannah Avenue. It is fun to look back and to be here almost 30 years later on this precipitous of having a building that will be a state of the art medical facility, one that reaffirms our commitment to this community, one that allows us to continue to support this community and provide the very best in comprehensive care to over very wonderful patients."

Patients will love the new facility

Optim Orthopedics’ patients in Statesboro will soon have a brand new facility to serve them and will take the expert care they’ve known for years and giving them a little bit more room to breathe.

Designed by architect Paul Stegenga of Stegenga + Partners and built by Statesboro’s own Brian Kent of BAK Builders, this expansive 22,283-square-foot facility will soon open at 17007 Highway 67,  just up the road from the current facility.

“We’re proud of the long-standing commitment we’ve made to the community of Statesboro, and we’re excited that we can soon offer our services in a much larger, more patient-friendly facility."

Michael Butler, CEO of Optim Orthopedics

Moving out of the smaller 15,000-square-foot facility that Optim Orthopedics currently occupies at 16915 Highway 67 will allow the practice to offer a greater level of service – and far more convenient parking. Not only will the new state-of-the-art facility greet patients in an expanded waiting room, it will offer 30 exam rooms that will allow for additional x-ray facilities alongside the MRI services they already offer.

“This new facility not only gives us an avenue to offer five-star medical services, it’s just up the road from our current facility, making it an easy transition for our existing patients.”

John McCormick, MD,Orthopedic Spine

Along with the orthopedic care and physical therapy, Optim Orthopedics provides for hundreds of patients out of their Statesboro offices. The practice is also official partners with area athletic organizations including Tormenta FC and Georgia Southern University. The new facility will allow the same physicians that Statesboro has come to know and trust a greater opportunity to serve the community.

“Many of the employees at Optim Orthopedics and our patients have called Statesboro home for their entire life, including myself. Optim Orthopedics’ continued investment in our community is not just in brick and mortar, but also in our staff, our patients and the level of care we can provide. The new facility will allow us to continue to grow as our extended families and new friends look to call the Statesboro area their home. We are very excited for this growth."

With the growth of their physical footprint comes the natural ability to provide stronger and more comprehensive healthcare.
