Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Bennett, 61, of Sardis, GA, passed away on July 3, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born in Savannah, GA to the late John Billy and Kathleen Dent Bennett. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Philosophy and History. He had previously worked for the Screven County Sheriff’s Office as a Sergeant, as an officer for the Sylvania Police Department, and recently retired as a Corporal from the Sardis Police Department. He owned and operated Georgia Wilderness Outfitters in downtown Sylvania for many years and had attended the Sardis Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Trude Bennett of Sardis, his children, Alannah (Joshua) Whitehead of Sylvania, Benjamin (Marigrace) Wilson of Houston, TX, and Spenser (Cara) Bennett of Sylvania, grandchildren, Peyton Whitehead and Zoey Whitehead, an aunt, Vernell Walker of Statesboro, and several cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Joiner Anderson Screven Chapel with Rev. Sonny Moon officiating. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.
