Construction has started on the much anticipated red light at the intersection of Cypress Lake Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The project has seen multiple delays. One of the longest delays was caused by the construction of special poles to hold the traffic light.

The traffic signal poles have finally arrived and been installed. The next step in construction project is building turn lanes on the south side of Cypress Lake Road.
Cypress Lake will have to be closed daily for about two weeks to complete this part of the project.

Road Closure June 21-29

There will be a ROAD CLOSURE on Cypress Lake Road, between Veterans Parkway and Courtney Way, daily during JUNE 21-29.

This is for the construction of turn lanes on Cypress Lake Road for the red light project. Construction crews have to build the turn lanes on the south side of Cypress Lake across the bypass and then install some guardrails.

The construction crews have paved the turn lanes on Cypress Lake Rd on the side closest to Statesboro.

Brannen Drive and Country Club Road will be used as a detour route. Coley Boyd Road, AJ Riggs Road and US 301 South are additional detour routes.

County Engineer Brad Deal estimates that the project will be complete in 6 weeks.
