Statesboro & Bulloch Fire save downtown motel from fire Sunday morning

Bulloch County 911 dispatched Statesboro and Bulloch County Fire Departments to a structure fire at the Deluxe Inn motel at 225 North Main Street at 12:18 am, Sunday, April 10, 2022 in downtown Statesboro.

Statesboro Fire Engine Three, Battalion One, Tower One, Engine Five and Bulloch County Engine 22 responded to the scene.

Statesboro firefighters on Engine One arrived on the scene within three minutes and reported light smoke on north side of the motel. They made an aggressive attack of the fire and confined the fire to one room on the North side of the hotel and reported black out of the fire within minutes of arriving.

Due to the rapid and aggressive response of Statesboro Fire it appears that only one room at the motel was damaged by fire.

Statesboro Police Department also responded to the scene and assisted with evacuating occupants from the motel and managed traffic control.

One lane of North Main from Northside Drive to Parrish Street was closed temporarily to provide access to the fire departments.

Firefighters remained on the scene for over an hour, making sure all of the hotspots and fire was out.

There were no reported injuries at the fire.

Statesboro Fire Department will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation of the fire.
