Leadership Southeast Georgia, a professional development and leadership program in 10 coastal counties, launched its 2022 programming in Glynn and McIntosh counties.
The Class of 2022 consists of 25 leaders from business, professional and civic organizations. Candidates are nominated and selected by LSEGA alumni and regional leaders to participate in a five-month course of ongoing personal and professional growth to build connections and learn collaboration skills that empower them to improve the region.
“The start of a new LSEGA session is always exciting,” said Justin Callaway, LSEGA 2022 site coordinator for Glynn County. “Fantastic things happen when outstanding people who want to make a positive impact on the community get together, form new friendships and get to work.”
This initial session reviewed the program structure, content and participant expectations for this year's class. Another objective was to help foster relationship-building among the attendees and develop peer networks that will last both during and after the program. Leadership is always on the agenda, and at this session, participants examined different styles and preferences of communication and the impact they have on leadership.
Additionally, the session focused on natural resources and issues pertinent to our area’s coastline. Through a variety of activities and visits from guest speakers, participants heard and experienced different perspectives on historical preservation, tourism, development and conservation.
“The three hosting cities, Brunswick, St. Simon’s Island, and Darien, are crucial to this area’s economy,” said Callaway. “It was fitting that our first session was held in these historic seaside locales.”

Leadership Southeast Georgia is a five-month, region-wide program designed to equip, empower and connect community leaders to most effectively advance positive growth and improve the quality of life in the southeast Georgia region. The executive board and program participants represent a variety of industries across Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Screven counties.
