The City of Statesboro has placed live on their website the distilled spirits package store reservation documents. This is the next step in what has been a decades long journey to bring package stores into the city.
According to Cain Smith, City of Statesboro Attorney, Friday, April 1, 2022 is first day they will accept reservation request for distilled spirits package store during normal business hours at City Hall, 50 East Main Street, which is 8:30 am to 5:30 pm weekdays.
There is no need to line up to be the first person in the door with an application.
If more than one person request a specific location that are within 1,000 yards of each other, City Council will need to make decision on who to grant the license to.
There is no timeline of when the first license will be granted. All applications will go through standard review procedures.
