A Nevils man has died after he sustained serious injuries during a Valentines Day fire.

On Monday, February 14, 2022 at 2 pm Bulloch 911 dispatched Bulloch EMS, Fire and Deputies to a grass and woods fire on Henry Futch road in the Nevils community of Bulloch County.

The initial reports came in that a man had been burned in the fire. When the first units arrived on the scene they reported that a 74 year old male had suffered significant burns in the fire and requested a medical helicopter to the scene.

Air Evac 95 responded to the scene and flew the man to Doctor's Hospital in Augusta. He died on Tuesday, February 15.

Bulloch County Fire Chief Chris Ivey said the man was trying to keep a grass and woods fire from spreading when his clothes caught on fire in the process. He received severe burns to his lower extremities.

The man has been identified at Robert Wayne Morgan, 74 from Nevils. Joiner Anderson Funeral Home is handling the arrangement for Mr. Morgan.

Grice Connect extends our condolences to the Morgan family.
