At 9:27 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 Bulloch County 911 dispatched Bulloch Sheriff, Bulloch EMS and Statesboro Fire Department to investigate a small plane crash near Mill Creek Park.

Plane Crash

Bulloch Sheriff's deputies were the first to arrive on the scene and reported a small Cessna plane was down in a wooded area between Brannen Road and Jones Mill Road just outside the Statesboro City limits. This area is less than one mile from the Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport.

They reported the plane was on fire.

Accessibility to the plane is difficult because of where it crashed in a wooded area.

Bulloch County EMS did not transport anyone from the scene.

Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch was requested to the scene.

One person has died in the crash.

The NTSB and FAA have been notified.

Grice Connect received multiple calls from people who lived in the area of the crash. They all reported hearing a small plane in obvious distress. Then moments later they heard the impact of the crash and saw flames coming from the wooded area.

This is a developing story. We will update when we have more information.
