Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Market 100 apartments located at 100 Bermuda Run adjacent to EGRMC at 11 PM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

Bulloch County 911 reported that the caller stated visible smoke and flames could be seen outside the Market 100 apartment.

The first SFD engine arrived on the scene in two minutes and reported heavy smoke coming from and upstairs apartment in the complex and requested additional assistance.

Due to the rapid response and aggressive attack by firefighters the fire was contained to the top corner apartment. The apartment appeared to suffer heavy smoke and fire damage. The apartment below most likely received water and smoke damage as well.

Statesboro Police Department assisted in evacuating the entire building as a precaution.

Bulloch County EMS responded to the scene as a precaution, but did not treat or transport anyone at the scene.

Statesboro Fire CAFE unit and the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team members also responded to the scene to assist the victims of the apartment complex.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Statesboro Fire will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
