NWS Flood Advisory for Bulloch till 7:30 PM 8/8 | BCSO reporting roads washed out

NWS Charleston has issued a Flood Advisory for Bulloch County till 7:30 PM, August 8, 2021. At 555 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.

NWS Charleston has issued a Flood Advisory for Bulloch County till 7:30 PM, August 8, 2021.

At 555 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms.

Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.

Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... Statesboro, Register, Georgia Southern, Denmark, Kennedy Pond, Jimps, Emit, Somerset, Irongate, Westbrooke and New Hope.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Bulloch County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is reporting trees down and roads washed out in the Register area. Bulloch County Roads Department are in route with heavy equipment to assess the situation and make repairs as quickly as possible.

Old Register Way is completely washed out at Burkhalter Road and Old Register Way.

Remember to turn around and don’t drown when flooded roads are encountered.
