The Sonic restaurant located at 880 Buckhead Drive in Statesboro, Georgia is back open tonight. The restaurant has been closed since Saturday night, July 17, 2021 due to a lightning strike.

Summer storms are fierce in south Georgia. This one was especially rough with a direct lightning strike to the restaurant knocking out the main computer and communication systems.

According to the owner, the parts were specialized and they had to order them from the west coast. The parts arrived today, Tuesday, July 20, 2021 and have been installed.

All systems are back up and running at the very popular restaurant in Statesboro.

Over 10,000 Grice Connect followers and Sonic fans viewed, liked, commented or shared the social media posts which shared the news over the weekend of the temporary closing.

Fans of Sonic made their way to the original 322 South Main location during the shut down. But now you can get all of your Sonic favorites at both locations!
