Statesboro Police Department (SPD) detectives are requesting assistance with information on the Sunday afternoon shooting in Statesboro reported on early today by Grice Connect.

According to a press release from SPD at 1:45 pm, Sunday, May 15,2021, SPD patrol officers responded to Madison Meadows Apartments on Packinghouse Road in Statesboro for a shooting. 

The 20 year old male victim had been transported from the scene prior to officers’ arrival, being dropped off later by an unknown party at East Georgia Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. 

The male was later transferred to Memorial in Savannah for further treatment.  His condition was not reported in the release.

Patrol officers, assisted by deputies with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, secured the scene and canvassed the area for witnesses.  Detectives processed the scene and recovered multiple shell casings and other pieces of evidence. 

SPD Detectives believe that there were multiple witnesses in the complex who were present when the male was shot who have not as yet provided their information.
