Excelsior EMC customers were affected by a power outage Sunday afternoon, May 9th. The outage primarily impacted customers in the country club area and south west area of the city. Due to the outage, red lights were out on the Veterans Memorial Parkway and South Main.

This is the second Sunday in a row that this same area experienced a brief power outage. However, last Sunday's outage was caused by a car accident.

According to Howard Porter, EMC Manager of Member Services, today's outage was caused by a small tree that came down on power possibly due to the high winds we experienced this afternoon. The troubleshooter removed the tree and the dispatcher was able to restore the power from their office in Metter.

Thanks to Mr. Porter and for responding during the outage to let Grice Connect followers know the issue in real time though our social media post.
