The intersection of South Main and Veterans Memorial Parkway, inside the City of Statesboro, is temporarily closed due to a two vehicle accident Thursday, April 22.

A little after 4 AM Statesboro Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of South Main and Veterans Parkway. Upon arrival they discovered a gasoline tanker on its side leaking gasoline. They requested assistance from the Statesboro Fire Department.

Statesboro Fire Department arrived on the scene and began to attempt to contain the leaking fuel. In the accident the gasoline tanker completely detached from the tractor trailer.

The second tractor trailer received major damage to the front of the tractor trailer.

Bulloch EMS responded to the scene and transported one of the drivers with non-life threatening injuries.

Due to the nature of the accident and issues with the leaking gasonline, Statesboro Police has temporarily closed the intersection. This will greatly impact the morning communte.

Please make plans to take an alternate route if you normally pass through this intersection.
