Deadly Brooklet Car Crash Shuts Down Highway 80 Thursday

A deadly Brooklet car crash shut down highway 80 East for several hours on Thursday, April 29. Bulloch 911 dispatched Bulloch EMS, Sheriff, Rescue and fire along with Brooklet Police Department and GSP to a two vehicle crash around 6 pm.

A deadly Brooklet car crash shut down highway 80 East for several hours on Thursday, April 29. Bulloch 911 dispatched Bulloch EMS, Sheriff, Rescue and fire along with Brooklet Police Department and GSP to a two vehicle crash around 6 pm. The crash occurred near Ken Brick just outside of Brooklet.

Brooklet Police were the first to arrive on the scene of and reported that both drivers were entrapped in the vehicles.

Bulloch EMS requested two helicopters to the scene. Bulloch Sheriff's Department and Brooklet PD began rerouting traffic.

Upon arrival EMS determined that one of the drivers had died in the crash and the second driver was in serious condition. They stood down Lifestar helicopter out of Savannah and requested Air Evac continue to the scene.

Air Evac landed the helicopter in a grassy area off of Highway 80 in front of Brooklet First Baptist Church.

The driver of a grey Jeep Cherokee was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah and was reported to be in serious condition. Memorial is the regions only level one trauma center.

According to Bulloch County Deputy Coroner Chuck Francis, Anna Bell Wilson Beasley, 81 of Statesboro was the driver of the second vehicle and will killed on impact.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident. No further details are available at this time.
