Speer Brannen was named the 2021 young farmer of the year by the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness committee. The award was presented at the annual Blessing of the Crops event held at the Bulloch County Ag Arena.
The event was led by Agribusiness Committee Chair Zach Murphy and co chair Sara Brinson.
After the prayers for the farmers were completed Brinson called up John Emery Brannen to introduce his son Speer as the young farmer of the year.
Speer Brannen is a fifth generation farmer and founded Hawkshaw Poultry Farms in Register.
