Early Veterans Memorial Parkway Accident Claims Life of Sylvania Man

An early morning Veterans Memorial Parkway accident claimed the life of a Sylvania Man. According to Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch identified the Sylvania Man as Jericho Flanders, 47 as the driver killed in the accident.

An early morning Veterans Memorial Parkway accident claimed the life of a Sylvania Man. According to Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch identified the Sylvania Man as Jericho Flanders, 47 as the driver killed in the accident.

Around 5:40AM Wednesday, March 31 Bulloch County 911 dispatched Statesboro Fire and Rescue, Bulloch County EMS and Bulloch Sheriff's Department and GSP to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway.

According to witnesses at the scene Flanders was driving south on the parkway in a white Ford Expedition in heavy fog conditions. As he approached the intersection of Country Club Road he ran into the back of a trailer which was attached to a Blue Ford pickup. The trailer contained lawn care equipment.

The Blue Truck was also traveling south on the parkway. Upon impact, Flanders vehicle left the roadway and ran into a wooded area. There were no reported injuries to the driver or passengers in the pickup truck.

Statesboro Fire and Rescue used extrication equipment to gain access in the vehicle. Flanders was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a co-worker who witnessed the accident, said Flanders was employed at Briggs and Stratton and was on the way to work at the time of the accident.
