Shooting on Northside Drive East Sends One Person to EGRMC

At 8:51 PM Friday night, February 5, Bulloch County EMS and Statesboro Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Checkers on Northside Drive East.

At 8:51 PM Friday night, February 5, Bulloch County EMS and Statesboro Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Checkers on Northside Drive East.

According to Statesboro resident, Amy Bowers who was in the drive through of Checkers when she heard a gunshot behind her.

She saw a white car stopped as it was exiting the Checkers parking lot on to Buckhead Drive. There were two people in the car, a wife and her husband. The wife was screaming that her husband had been shot and asking for help.

Bowers got out of her car and approached the vehicle where she saw that the 46 year old male driver of the car had been shot in the neck and was bleeding profusely.

She did not see the shooting or the person who shot the man in the car. The man was conscious when EMS transported him from the scene to EGRMC.

Statesboro police detectives are processing the scene. We have reached out to Jared Akins, Operations Bureau Captain with SPD for more information. We will update the story as soon as Captain Akins released more information.
