This week Bi-Lo in the Statesboro Mall posted store closing signs which has created quite a stir in the community. We reported in June that Statesboro BI-LO had been acquired along with a number of the BI-LO stores in our area by Food Lion.

In a list provided by Food Lion in June, they purchased BI-LO's and Harvey's in our area including Statesboro, Metter, Pembroke, Reidsville, Springfield, Sylvania and the Vidalia.  Under the purchase agreement, the stores continued operating as BI-LO or Harvey’s until 2021.

Everything Must GO in BI-LO

As part of the purchase agreement, BI-LO retained everything inside the store and will liquidate the entire store. The liquidation sale will begin Wednesday, January 10 and continue until February 14.

The first week markdowns storewide will begin at 20% off and will continue to increase until everything is gone.

They will close the store completely for about two weeks to reset the store as Food Lion. The "new" Food Lion should be open by early March.

Tod Marsh will Continue as Food Lion Manager

Popular, local store manager Tod Marsh has been hired by Food Lion and will continue to manage the store. Marsh feels confident that most of his team will remain in place, especially the leadership team.

"I am really excited about our next chapter in converting to Food Lion", said Marsh. "From everything I have seen with Food Lion, they are ready to make a strong commitment to our community and provide a fresh alternative. I expect all of my friends and loyal BI-LO customers will be very pleased with this transformation."
