The Ogeechee Technical College Adult Education program has been selected to participate in the 2020 COABE (Coalition on Adult Based Education) Google Applied Digital Skills initiative.

The opportunity included a $1,000 award for the Applied Digital Skills curriculum course training for instructors that will be made available to adult education program participants.

“Expanding the learning opportunities for our Adult Education students remains a high priority at Ogeechee Tech,” said Samantha Smith, Dean of Adult Education. “We look forward to adding this training to our instruction and are grateful to COABE for the opportunity.”

The partnership with COABE and the Google Applied Digital Skills initiative will certify Adult Ed instructors at OTC to teach the Google-based curriculum. Courses range from 2 to 9 hours in length and lessons include effective communication, document formatting, writing strategies, spreadsheet design, project management, and more.

The Adult Education Program is specifically designed for adults who have different needs, backgrounds, and skills. Two levels of instruction have been developed which extend from beginning reading and writing to high school completion through the General Education Development (GED) program.
