Ogeechee Technical College(OTC) welcomed back over 2,000 students to campus last week as fall semester classes started both online and in-person.

“I really enjoy greeting students as they come back to campus in the fall,” said Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant for the AVP of Student Affairs at Ogeechee Tech. “The first week of fall is always one of the most exciting weeks for students, faculty and staff. We get so many new and returning students coming through our doors and you can see how excited they are to begin a new chapter in their lives,” she continued.

Snyder spent much of Monday morning greeting students at a welcome tent located out front of Ogeechee Tech’s landmark Joseph E. Kennedy building and did so the rest of the week in other locations. At the tent, students were handed welcome bags that contained facemasks, hand sanitizer, and other OTC branded gear.

“Learning may look a little different this fall based on what many students are used to,” said Dr. Ryan Foley, EVP for Academic and Student Affairs. “Whether it is the sanitizing wipes inside each classroom, the adjusted procedures for PPE use and physical distancing, or the adaptation of online content, we will continue to deliver quality technical education to our students to prepare them for the workforce.”

Additional precautions including social distancing floor decals, directing foot traffic, plexiglass barriers, spacing furniture and limiting seating have been taken in common areas across campus to help mitigate potential virus transmission during the pandemic.
