The City of Statesboro will host a live census panel on its Facebook page this Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. Grice Connect will also share the live feed Grice Connect’s Facebook Page and griceconnect.com.
Panel guests will include Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar and Marilyn Stephens, Assistant Regional Census Manager for the Atlanta Region of the U.S. Census Bureau. The panel will be moderated by Layne Phillips, Public Information Officer for the City of Statesboro.
“I’m very excited to be joining this panel alongside Ms. Stephens,” said Mayor McCollar. “Having worked with the U.S. Census Bureau for over 20 years, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the conversation. I hope the two of us will be able to eliminate the guesswork of census taking for residents of Statesboro and ensure our community is well represented in the 2020 Census.”
The live panel will address commonly asked questions regarding the 2020 Census and highlight the impact census responses can have in a community when every resident is accounted for. Currently, Statesboro has a 37.8% response rate for the 2020 Census while Bulloch County as a whole is at 49.8%.
A recording of the panel will also be available on the City of Statesboro Youtube channel the following day.
