SRAA Juried Exhibition

Local artwork from members of the Statesboro Regional Art Association (SRAA) and other area artists is on display through August in the Main Gallery of the Averitt Center for the Arts.

The annual SRAA Juried Exhibition was held in early July and drew over 40 entries from many local artists who showcased their talents in different techniques and mediums. The event was juried (judged) by Shannon Morris, Gallery Director of Mary S. Byrd Gallery of Art within the Department of Art and Design at Augusta University.

Alice Bennett won the Best in Show for her watercolor entitled “Fish Tales.” She painted the scene in watercolor on paper and the whimsical display 16 x 20 inches. Gabriel Diaz won the Roxie Remley Award for his abstract piece entitled “Durmiendo en Pandemia (Sleeping in Pandemic).” It’s oil on canvas with wall texture and gold leaf and measures 31.5 x 39 inches.

There are 12 paintings and one ceramic creation on display and most are for sale. The pieces, as are those from the exhibits of Bunyan Morris and Drew Cottrill (both at the Roxie Remley Center for Fine Arts) and Carol Duggar (Rosengart Gallery at 41 West Main Street) can be viewed online at www.averittcenterforthearts.org/performances-events.

To view these wonderful local creations in person, please come by the Averitt Center for the Arts Main Gallery or the Roxie Remley Center for Fine Arts Monday through Friday or call 212-2787 to make an appointment for the Rosengart Gallery.
