Statesboro restaurants are now selling grocery items in additional to meals

Local businesses have become very creative in order to make ends meet during the COVID-19 shelter in place order.  Many have also helped fill needs that are outside of their normal business models.  The local restaurant industry has been leading the way in adaptation.

They have had to adjust from allowing customers to eat inside their restaurants to operating for curbside or delivery orders only.  This adjustment has tremendously effected their normal sales.  Seeing volume decrease and knowing that many of their clients really don’t want to go inside a grocery store, they have began selling their grocery and staples inventory.  They offer shopping “menus” that include the ingredients of some of their best sellers to toilet tissue and paper products.  With delivery in place for most of the restaurants either directly by the restaurant or through delivery services like BoroTakeOut, this makes it even more convenient for shoppers.  It also gives them some more creative options while sheltered in place.

Gnat’s Landing, Eagle Creek Brewery, Ruby Tuesday and Waffle House are some of the restaurants selling groceries.  Go to your favorite restaurants’ Facebook page or website to see if they are also doing this.  This is just one more way to help Statesboro businesses stay afloat during this very hard time for businesses of all sizes.
