Friday night, April 24th, would have been the Bulloch County Relay for Life to honor cancer survivors and memorialize our citizens who lost their battle with cancer.  Bulloch-GSU relay benefits the American Cancer Society.

The Bulloch County Relay for Life is one of the largest events held annually in Bulloch County.  Last year the event moved to downtown from the Kiwanis Fair Grounds.  Because of COVID-19, the event was postponed.  The local relay for life committee held a “Light Up Your Lawn” event to mark the night in celebrating survivors and loved ones because cancer doesn’t stop.

They encouraged our community to light up a luminary in honor or in memory of someone they care about who has been impacted by cancer and place them in their yard.  Citizens responded by decorating luminaries and wrote the names of their loved ones on a paper lunch bag and placed them in their lawns.

Social media was filled with pictures of luminaries all over Bulloch county.  Luminaries were also placed downtown on East Main Street to support this Relay effort.

Bulloch County has raised over $17,000 of their $100,000 goal.  To learn more about the local campaign or to make a contribution click here.
